: My grandfather was John Wade from Clonakilty, Co. Cork (born in 1883 /emigrated to Massachusetts.) In my whole life (here in the USA), I have never met anyone with surname "Wade" who was Irish. (Other than my father's family.) My grandfather was poor and a devout Catholic. He was sent to work as a farm laborer at age 16. So, we are not of the Anglo-Irish ascendency, or it would seem unlikely so. We don't know how we got this name and have each been asking our fathers. My grandfather asked his father who said that his own father was unable to tell him. Does anyone know about Wades from Co. Cork? Anything relevant that you might share would mean so much to me.

My name is Linda Stack born of John Stack from Co. Kerry and Hannah Stack (nee Walsh) Co. Cork both now deceased. I have discovered that my Mother father was called John Wade and her Mother Teresa Walsh. I am looking for them as I have grown up believing that Teresa Walsh was her sister but found out that she gave birth to my mother as she got pregnant by John Wade and was banished from the family to england. I would like to trace John Wade and Theresa Wade. Any help would be appreciated.
